About Dr. John Hair

                                                                          

    Dr. John Hair has been an educator for over 40 years, he started his career as a music teacher, and has held various positions, Assistant Principal, Principal, Dean of Student Affairs and ended his career as Vice President of Student Affairs at Davenport College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, adjunct faculty member for Western Michigan University teaching graduated courses in school
law for the Educational Leadership Department and multicultural educational courses, etc. While at Davenport College he developed the S.T.A.R.T. Program which allowed high school students to have a college experience during the summers; the Black Scholars Lecture Series, Intercollegiate Minority Association Network (that included various colleges, universities); also,
BEEP (Black Educational Excellence Program). Dr. J. (as he is fondly called) has a B.S. an M.Ed. degree in Instrumental Music and Music Administration from Wayne State University, a Specialist Degree in Management from Georgia State University, an Educational Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.


Dr. John Hair has been a member of Bethel AME Church in Detroit for the last 11 years and was Trustee ProTem for 5 years and currently an active member of the Trustee Board, He develop the strategic plan for the church and was responsibility for many upgrades throughout Bethel. He has been an active Bible Study participant for several years. His faith in God has been a
cornerstone in his writing, arranging and playing music; he is quick to say that he gets his inspiration from the voice and sounds of God. Dr. has been an active Christian and believer for over 40 years. Dr. Hair resides with his wife Rev. Dr. Beverly A. Hair in Beverly Hills, Michigan.


Dr Hair is a trombonist, arranger, band leader, and composer is wisely recognized and respected as an outstanding musician and leader in the jazz field. Dr. J’s musical career spans more than 40 years. Dr. Hair has been a Music Appreciation facilitator for various colleges and universities.
